    The moab should only kill the opponent team, when the player who called it is still in the team he was when he called it.

    Yeah I understand this. I myself almost never play S&D and indeed I can't know what is best for every server and every game mod. That's why I created a "Discussion thread" for the rules. So that anyone can suggest that something should be added to the rules. And if several people say "yes this rule would be useful", then I would surely add it to our rules (except if there are also many arguments against the rule).


    Because IMO we have to define clear rules.


    Because otherwise if we just say "Yeah it's okay to kick for this, even though it's not in the rules", then anyone can kick for some reason that he himself thinks is good, and then say: "well, I thought it was right, and some people punish for stuff that aren't a rule so I thought I could do it". Like kicking for "abusing c4 fx" (nothing personal against you Grvty, that's just the best example I got right now).

    I often check the kick/ban list, and sometimes I see kick/ban reasons which I don't like.
    Why? Mainly because some trusted/members sometimes kick for stuff which isn't forbidden by our rules (cf. 3xP' CoD4 server rules).

    So I'll report on this thread every time I see a punishement with an invalid reason.

    2 things here:


    - Why the hell would you kick for "abusing c4 fx"? You obviously know it's not in our rules. And I've never seen anyone else punishing for this.
    I don't see how using a lot of C4 could cause any problem. I've already had fun with C4 before on CJ, and it doesn't cause any lag or anything as far as I'm aware.


    - Putting "..." as a warn reason is not acceptable. Then how can the guy even know what he's warned for. Except if you've warned him without command before, but then I don't see why you would warn him using the command. You can kick him if you've warned him before, and with an understandable reason.

    Using an insult in a kick/ban reason is never allowed. Actually insulting/swearing is never allowed on our servers. And trusted players have to show the exemple. Do you even know what "faggot" means, since you're using it as an insult?

    Asking someone to stop flaming, while flaming yourself? Not the most brilliant idea IMO. Anwyway, as said above, trusted players have to be an example for other players. Insulting/flaming is not tolerated.





    Please note that some other trusted/members may have kicked for the same wrong reasons. I just used the first examples I found in the banlist.


    But don't worry, if I write your name here, it's just to make you aware that you're misusing your perms. I know you're not doing this on purpose.
    Though you should always know what our rules are. If you're not sure about a rule, check the Rules thread on the forums before punishing when you're not sure it's punishable.


    If there is a bigger problem, or if you keep misusing your perms after this, I'll PM you. This thread is actually made more for information purposes than for warning purposes.
    It's also made for all trusted players and members, so that everyone can be aware of what is wrong, and avoid doing it themselves.

    It's about the MOAB. I just hate how, when the caller dies and becomes assassin, the explosion kills the whole guards team.
    Some people sometimes even troll with it, dying on purpose after calling it in order to kill the king.


    I think it's just really unfair for the king who dies even though he hasn't done anything wrong at all.


    My solution (3 possibilities):
    1) If the caller dies, it cancels the MOAB.
    2) If the caller dies, the MOAB explodes but we just see the animation, no one dies (better than n°1).
    3) If the caller dies, the MOAB still explodes, but kills all guards except the king. Even though it's still unfair for the guards to die like this IMO, it could be fun. The king still has a chance to survive, and at least the round doesn't end just like that. A lot less frustrating IMO.


    Note: If the caller had an extra life and spawns as guard after dying, the MOAB should still work normally.
    Maybe the simplest way to make this would be to write a script so that the MOAB simply cannot kill anyone of the guards team (except if you choose solution n°3, then it should simply never kill the king).


    EDIT:
    2nd improvement idea:
    If the king leaves in the first 30sec/minute, he should be replaced by a random guard instead of having the round ending (which can be very annoying :P ).

    About the Help Menu, I think on the "Informations" tab, at the 2nd line, we should add:
    - Staying near the king to protect him gives you a lot of XP over time.
    Maybe more players will actually try to defend the king :P

    I really don't think it's a problem, for several reasons:


    - Assassins win most of the time, be there 1 or 2 assassins at the beginning, so I don't think it's important.
    - It doesn't make the game stop as if the King reconnected.
    - When they rejoin, they rejoin as assassin, not guard, so they're still 2 assassins (though if he gets killed by king, he'll be back in the guards team, yes)
    - I do it myself sometimes :D I hate being dog. Though I love being assassin.


    Maybe I forgot some other arguments, that was just what was on the top of my head :P


    Anyway, you're saying some people do this as dog/slave. But I think it's 99% as dog, because many people dislike it, but are okay with being assassin. So this issue surely won't even exist anymore in the next mod update, because people will be able to change whether they want to be picked as dog or as assassin.

    I just played. There is a weird huge bug lol ^^
    Well first, KTK Help Menu, very good job :P Though there are a few typos and small issues (dunno if you're aware of them; you can see them here: 130184957-4.jpg and here: 130184961-4.jpg). I will list the typos later.


    Now about the bug. I played a first round, fine (on Nuketown). With only 1 bot. I was picked as assassin. I killed the king, then the killcam was beginning fine, but maybe 1 or 2 seconds before we could see the final shot, it was cut. Then a new round began, but everything was in slow-mo O.o I tried reconnecting, was still the same. For every round.
    So I restarted the server and tried on another map (Crash). But the exact same thing happened (first round fine, final killcam cut e few seconds too soon, and following rounds in slo-mo).

    EDIT3:
    The disabled hardpoints messages seem to work perfectly :thumbup: Though I'd write " ... is disabled on this map" (and not " ... is disabled this map" - I think it's not correct, not 100% sure though ^^ ).
    About the slo-mo bug, I tried again, and I played the first round without killing the king. And the second round was totally fine. So I tried killing the king, and the same bug happened. So it only happens when we kill the king, so it has smth to do with the final killcam I think.
    A server restart or map change fixes it btw.


    Note: Looks like the length of the final killcam is steady and good now though. If it weren't cut at the end, it would be perfect :D

    you only get g36c with under barrel grenade launcher


    I think ou haven't read my whole post :D (I think you don't often read whole posts x) ). Yeah I think only g36c with GL is available is the mod. And you should have 1/61 chances to get it from the box :D



    Twice the game didn't start ( we were 3 players) because all was allocated to guards. We waited and not untill a forth player connected the game started. We did play however just two players, then a third connected and it was still fine during the match. But when the next game started it was bugged.


    So twice, the game "unblocked" itslef as a 4th player joined? And when did that happen? The day you wrote the post, or was it a few days before?

    A small improvement idea:
    I think it would be good, when a hardpoint is disabled on a map, if someone who picked this disabled hardpoint gets a msg on his screen when he reached the number of kills required for the hardpoint. Basically, he gets a msg instead of the hardpoint. The msg would say, if it's the heli which is disabled for instance: "Helicopter is disabled on this map".
    The reason is, I think most people don't pay attention to the MOTD, and may get confused when they don't get their hardpoint.
    Once again, it's not a big deal :P But I know as a player I like to have a lot of information, so I guess some other players as well ^^


    Also, the killcam length problem is still here. To fix it, would it be possible maybe to add a dvar to choose final killcam length separetely from regular killcam length?

    And sometimes it's even shorter than this. Sometimes a bit longer. I don't think I'm making a mistake when I say the length vary from one killcam to another. If someone could confirm though, that'd be nice.

    The g36c_mp is actually the AugH in KTK. So when you told me in game that you got g36c in weaponbox, I think you dreamed. I like the g36c_reflex_mp because of the "sniper zoom". I could maybe replace it with something.


    But anyway, when you reach this kind of "high" stage, do you still really update your weapon every kill? I usually just stick with p90 when I get it, and maybe then update to ak47, and then to LMGs. Updating weapon every kill = pointless and more chances to get killed (since updating takes some time to switch the weapons). Sticking with the weapons you like most is the best choice I think.


    I tried to put some good and fun weapons in the "gungame", and the reason I put AugH twice is because with no zoom and with zoom really feel differently. And it's not a regular CoD4 weapon and it's pretty good IMO.


    If you have a better suggestion you can suggest it to me (open another thread though, this is off-topic). But suggest a weapon which exists in the mod :P



    Edit: Actually I think maybe the g36c with grenade launcher is in the mod. Because I don't think AugH with GL exists?
    But anyway that would mean that if I want to put the g36c in the gungame, I'd have to put it with GL. And I don't want that :P

    I think having a gun improvement from Desert Eagle to Gold Desert Eagle isn't much of an upgrade. Instead, maybe we can reintroduce the M9 or M1911 pistol as the starting weapon.
    It would be much better than getting the same weapon except with a different camo. :/


    Idea: Perhaps we can even replace the Desert Eagle with the golden one. :D


    This is something I can easily change in config. I know having twice the same weapon in a row is not good. I need to change that. But I don't want guards to have a "shitty" pistol to begin anymore. Assassins now get better weapons (as they spawn more often with long-range weapons), and I think the M9 pistol is just a pain for beginners, who have 0 prestige and 0 perks. It can be really hard to get a kill with it. So I'd rather have deagle first, then magnum, and then I have to find something for the 3rd stage. Maybe skorpion (if it exists in the mod, but I think it does).



    @Viking I edited my previous post with some more info.


    Edit: I was wondering, how come mods like RotU, RoZo can actually work? It looks to me that they have a huge amount of custom models/weapons. A lot more than what there is is KTK. Or maybe it's just an impression. Isn't there a way to bypass CoD4 models restrictions?

    I just went on the server to test the hardpoints (this time with the last mod.ff :P ).
    The map was lolzor. No hardpoints were disabled.


    1) First, some hardpoints were working completely fine: RC-XD, Poison nade, CP, airstrike, mortars, AC130 (actually I'm not sure about RC-XD. As king, I think sometimes I was getting it, sometimes not. To be verified).
    2) The problem is that a few hardpoints are not working at all. No one was able to get: Predator, Sentry gun, Heli. We tried as King and guard, no one ever got one of these.
    But I think Heli is automatically "disabled" on lolzor though (because there is no heli waypoints or smth). To be verified. So maybe heli works just fine.
    So that would mean only Predator and Sentry gun are a problem.
    I couldn't test MOAB (didn't even try), so idk about this one. Edit: I also don't get MOAB (as King and as guard as well apparently nYpK tested it for guard, not me).
    So it looks like it's the 3 most recent hardpoints which have a problem (I was able to get Heli when not on Lolzor so heli is working fine).
    Edit2: You just can't earn those 3 hardpoints through killstreaks, but you can get them from CP and use them though.

    3) Second problem, no one ever got the automatic weapon hardpoint as King. I never had the "Press [F] to update weapon" msg, or whatever it is ^^


    4) Also, shouldn't the king get only poison airstrike and mortars? Seems like in this version, we simply get what we picked in Hardpoints. Idk if it was intentional from you or if it's a bug.


    5) And last bug, a weird one. I had picked Heli, predator, sentry gun, and I didn't get any but I got AC130 x) I was king I think. Dunno how the hell that happened ^^


    Note: Several times, the "waiting match to begin" message (or whatever it is, I got it in French ^^ ) appeared at the beginning of a round (we were 3 to 5 people on the server), and I was afraid we would get stuck on it, but no, it went away quickly (0.5 to 1.5 seconds I'd say :D ).



    - Options seem to be working totally fine now, XP was showing up when I joined the server and I didn't have to do anything :thumbup:



    To finish, an improvement idea:
    Today I joined our server and I saw at least 4 or 5 people level 55 (0 prestige), and even when I was telling them to prestige, they wouldn't do it. Maybe they don't pay attention to chat, I don't know.
    So maybe when someone is level 55, every time he connects he should get a big msg on his screen, or on the MOTD screen, telling him he can prestige by going to the options. And maybe the "Enter prestige" button should glow in some nice color when you are level 55, to catch attention.
    For prestige 0 only I think. Or for all the prestiges except the last one if you prefer :P But I think once someone has prestiged once, he'll do it the following times.


    It's not a big deal, but prestiges helps to make people loyal to the server, so it's nice if are aware they can prestige :D

    I noticed that even though I wrote this thread, some of you (trusted players) still call votes for maps like lolzor.


    I know so many people are asking all the damn time to vote for certain maps, especially lolzor. I don't play that much but the last days, every time I went on the server, there were always some noobs/newbies asking repeatedly for maps like lolzor. I assume that now that there are often trusted players who are able to vote on the server, people got used to it and keep asking for votes.


    Well, I'll ask you NOT to answer to these childish requests.
    You can even kick a player with the reason "annoy" if he keeps asking all the time.
    Maybe I'll add a banner (regular server message) saying that players mustn't ask for votes/maps.


    To clear things up, here is the list (subject to change) of the maps you are not allowed to call votes for (except under certain circumstances, which I will state below):


    - lolzor
    - poolday
    - slide
    - lolzor2
    - nuketown
    - uprise
    - modern rust
    - maze1
    - crash



    Exceptions list:
    You can call a vote for one of these maps in these cases:
    - Right after a server crash, for a population boost.
    - If there is 8 or less people on the server.
    - From Monday to Friday if the time is between 00:00 and 2 pm, and the server population is under 12 people.
    - On Saturday and Sunday if the time is between 2 am and 11 am, and the server population is under 12 people.


    It feels kinda dumb to write these very specific rules, but apparently I'm obliged to if I want some map diversity to remain on the server.



    If I still see trusted players or members calling votes while they shouldn't, I will simply remove these maps from the MAM maps list, and no one will ever be able to call a vote for any of these maps, under any circumstances. That'd be a bit sad.
    Or I could also remove the voting perms from trusted players.

    Today with mirko we added a few KTK commands to MAM (ManuAdminMod), so you guys can use them (trusted players & members).


    !spec
    !kkill
    !saybold
    !explode


    The most useful is !spec <PartOfName/PID>
    -> switches a player to spectators.
    For trusted1 and above.
    I added it mostly so trusted players and members can put themselves in spec, when they want to spectate a cheater.
    :!: Please don't use it for any other reason than spectating a cheater or solving a potential problem on the server.


    !kkill <PartOfName/PID>
    -> kills a player.
    For trusted2 and above.
    You can use it instead of !kick sometimes if you think it's a better punishment. Or for instance if someone is bugged/blocked or something, this can help, and avoids a kick.
    It's not for trusted1 because !kill doesn't show up in the banlist and it's less easy to check if a trusted player does something wrong (yeah, that can happen :P ).
    Edit: I had to rename !kill to !kkill.


    !saybold <YourMessage>
    -> writes a simple message on the screen.
    For trusted1 and above.
    It's actually kinda the same as !msg so it's kinda useless :D

    !explode <PartOfName/PID>
    -> Kills a player... with some nice effect :D
    For trusted3 and above.

    One thing though, @8:39 or 8:40 pm, I was hit twice by the same throwing knife (the bug I told you about). Idk if any log could help you see what happened there ^^


    Note: I enabled all hardpoints on all maps again for now, it will be easier to test what goes wrong.


    I played yesterday, we were 3, and sadly there were still bugs :(


    Well 3 isn't really enough, as there is no guard, just a king. So it kinda sucks to test the hardpoints.


    But what is sure is this: Not one of us, as King, got the hardpoint weapon (on our server, g36c_silencer_mp).
    Also sometimes we weren't getting any hardpoint at all. Sometimes just the RC car then nothing. Sometimes rc, airstrike, mortars (I had picked them in hardpoints, though I thought for king it didn't matter and he should just get air and mortars?).


    I never ever got sentry, predator, heli or ac (when I had picked them indeed), but maybe it's because I was king? Though why did I get RC then?



    And the bug when the round doesn't start with 3 people happened again :( About twice in 15 or 20 rounds maybe.


    About the settings, it looks like they stay. For instance if I change map or reconnect, I'll still be picked as slave and not as dog (not 100% sure I didn't have to re-enable it at some point, but I don't think so). Though for the XP, even though the button was remaining on "yes", I had to re-enable it every map or reconnect, i.e. I had to click twice on it, to make it go from yes to no then to yes again (I don't think I had to do it every round... but I actually didn't really pay attention often, as I'm used not to see XP on my sreen). But from what the other 2 people playing with me told me, it was working fine for them even after a map change, so maybe it's a problem on my side.
