Yo guys, i have problem... after i've reinstalled windows like 2 months ago. When i start cod 4 got stable 500 fps but after like 5 mins instead of 333 i have like 328 and after more time it goes lower and lower 320 280 240...
but if i do ALT+TAB out of game and back to game its again stable.
Any idea how fix it ? ty for any kind of help (not like buy new pc ! )
cod 4 at my laptop... (fps drop)

Seems like something is overheating if power is dropping while time goes by.
Check the temperature of your GPU and CPU, theres some programs for that,
which you can easily find on google or else where.
I dont know what else it can be. Maybe antivirus software doing background checks. But test the temperature first.

Try checking the temps of your components,
You can use Speccy which is a reliable app which tells you usage/temp for each component.
Here's a download link: Speccy - System Information - Free Download
Reason for checking your temps is because your CPU may be thermal throttling when under load (playing games)Another thing which I can think of is maybe try reinstalling/making sure your drivers are up to date.
I'm not 100% sure these solutions will have any effect as I don't personally own a laptop myself to game on,
but hopefully your issues are resolved soon!Jayme

Could also be some kind of ram issue.
If you open taskmanager you can see how much physical memory that are used in %.You could try using Razer game booster there are functions like cleaning ram, closes programs that are not neccessary while gaming and so on.
If ram is the issue, you should download memtestx86 and run the test, if physically damaged you should replace them with new ones, if you have high memory usage but the memtest dont give you any errors its probably a program running in the background that causes it.
If temparatures is the problem, the game booster wont help at all, then you should clean out all the dust you can find. Do not do that with a vacuum-cleaner, that might destroy your computer. Best thing to use is air on can ( dunno if thats the right name )

Hey man. Are you using windows 10? I have had issues with a memory leak from something in win10. If not, all the suggestions above should sort you out
-
jack i have win7 64 bit i dont think so its ram issue cuz i have 8gb ram its enough i guess itll be some temperature failure or drivers false.. idk now gonna check temperature ill post it there.
-
I also think that it's a heat problem.
As deleted User already said, some cpu's reduce their power to avoid getting too warm.
On normal pc's you could check the bios for such settings and disable it, but laptops often have a reduced bios so you can't edit much there -
when got drop cpu temp is 74C motherboard 74C too but when alt+ tab to desktop it goes CPu 63C motherboard 68C storage has 27C... i dont think so its temp failure ill try driver reinstall...now passed 10 mins at temperature is 68C of cpu, and motherboard 58 when playing cod lol so failure is somewhere else.... ram usage is stable 48% ill try reainstall driver as i said b4 xD ( Srry for my eng.. it sucks)
-
thats bad guys its even not driver's false still drops with newer drivers

Upgraded any parts lately?

yea got new ssd hdd and +4 gb ram b4 thats all
laptop build is: Intel core i5 3230M ivy bridge 22nm technology 4cores 2.60Ghz
8Gb Ram dual channel, AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M idk why but cant see speed of graphics in cpu-z i can only see intel hd graphics 4000 -
@Hoopik Download HwMonitor and give us a screenshot under load (when u're playing and fps drops) like have already said myst. Also, under load give us a screenshot from main tab of CPU-Z.
Operative temperature for this cpu is 105 degrees. Throttling can be activated earlier ofc, but still - 74 degrees is in normal border temperature under load. Even for normal PCs
But we've to w8 for screenshots
Edit: And no offense to hawkie, but don't use any kind of game boosters. U can do it by yourself to clean your os, without external stuff like this.

well tried to find temperature of graphics : failed.. every tool shows 0
or nothin.. theres screen of HW thing, just quick screenshot when got drop -

Programs are "downloading" temperature of the gpu from driver. If programs can't display temperature = maybe sth is wrong with a driver (or with a sensor on gpu).
PPM on desktop > AMD Catalyst Control Center > Performance > AMD Overdrive > Enable AMD Overdrive. Then u should see two new options in Performance tab - CPU OverDrive and Graphics Overdrive. Try look for temperature here.
Also, from your ss we can see, that cpu is dumping timings, but it's cuz of energy saving (during idle). I'm talking about min value (timings) ofc. Current value, that is 2 GHz is proly because u minimized game = cpu usage was lower = cpu is automatically changing tmings to lower (energy saving). Turbo Boost (max value of timings) is working fine, temperatures are okey. Observe timing frequency under load, but use tab in-game (How to: CPU and GPU usage along with FPS in-game). When u'll see the drop of FPS, u'll check rapidly how are looking your cores clocks. If there will be change from for example 2,6 GHz (your base clock) to lower value we can say, that it's throttling issue.

Ok ill try it later have to download overdrive but the thing is i removed all graphics drivers and now if i install intel driver utillity after driver installs i need restart but.... got blue death... so i will reinstall windows i guess.. Bios dont like the driver but b4 izlt worked fine.. photo
-
Try remove it completly from safe mode (usng Revo Unninstaller for exaple). And then install it again (in safe mode ofc). Do it the same with AMD driver.
Btw. u don't need to install overdrive I guess. If u have AMD driver for your gpu that feature is included in it

ive tried but still bios thingie in safe mod it works good. When i remove intel hd graphics i can normally start system but if i install any other version after restart same... bios blue death xD
