Note that some of these maps are designed for 125fps so I'd recommend playing them with that to get the proper nostalgic experience!

AFAIK it's server-sided to prevent others copying it (the code). You could use another mod for devmap if it's important to you.

Hey, quick warning.

Yesterday Steam reverted COD4 back to 1.6 (from 1.7).
If you have auto-updates on, or if you download COD4 from Steam today you will get version 1.6.
1.6 will not allow you to play on most servers, and can also cause other problems too.

Why?:
This appears to be related to a pretty severe bug with many Call of Duty games allowing hackers to execute malicious code.
More details can be found in this Reddit thread.
According to Fraggy over on the CoD4X forums, this exploit is not even possible on CoD4. CoD4X thread here.

Prevent:
You can set your Steam preferences to not allow updates unless you launch the game (this will work assuming you don't launch through Steam). Tutorial here.

Fix:
You will need the 1.7 executable file. Sheep posted one in the CoD4X thread which I assume is legit (not verified).

I've noticed a lot of people are using the default font instead of the custom font (probably because they do not know it exists). The default font is pretty ugly so we recommend the custom font.

To install, just drag and drop the extracted files into the mod folder Call of Duty 4\Mods\3xp_cj.

Seems to be done using shaders and hud elements, you can see it in this code here written by the mapper.
You could contact BUSH1DO if you want more info for this particular implementation.
