Factor each side to get:

The common factors of (y - x) cancel out to get:

x = y + x

Given that y = x, we can conclude that:

x = x + x

And so therefore:

x = 2x

Thus:

1 = 2

So:

0 = 1

And:

0=682

Therefore:

655=1337

you cant cancel out (y-x) because when you have got x=y => (x-y)=0 and you cant divide by 0
