My work pickup keeps dying, will a 100Ah battery fix it?

  • I drive a Mitsubishi L200 for work, and for a month now the battery has been a big headache. Some mornings it starts fine and some mornings it barely turns. Last Tuesday I was at a site in Jebel Ali with a crew waiting for me, and the truck would not start at all. A colleague jumped it, but I lost almost an hour and my boss was not happy. The battery is about two and a half years old. The truck does lots of short trips and then sits in the sun for hours. I also run a work light, a tracker and a phone charger. A mechanic friend told me to get a 100Ah because it holds more power. I looked online for a Premium Varta 100Ah battery service in Dubai, but every page just said best price and fast work, so I still do not know what a good service should include. Is 100Ah really needed for a pickup like mine, or is it just a way to sell a bigger battery? Does it always fit the same tray? Could the short trips be the real problem, because the battery never gets a full charge? Should I ask the shop to test the alternator before I buy? Where do I find the date on a new battery, and is one year warranty normal? If you drive a work truck and changed to a 100Ah lately, please tell me what you paid, how long it lasted, and if the morning starts got better.
